NTDC BOSS BRANDS NIGERIA @ 50 IN J’OBURG
One thing that many fans at the last World Cup will not forget in a hurry is the Nigeria @ 50 Village, built for the National Committee on Nigeria’s 50th Independence Anniversary by the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC). The village showcased Nigeria’s cultural heritage, tourism and business assets/potentials. The corporation, led by its Director General, Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, coordinated activities at the village, located at the serene neighborhood of Zoo Lake in Johannesburg.
Runsewe built the village on behalf of the Anniversary Committee, as part of his initiatives at presenting Nigeria in good light.
South Africans and other nationals who hitherto, only saw Nollywood stars and film personalities on MNET AFRICAN MAGIC channel, also had rare priviledge of seeing the stars in person at the village in Johannesburg. Also at the venue were notable Nigerian musicians like Sunny Nneji, Shina Peters, Alariwo, Yinka Ayefele, Yinka Davies and Tee Mac. The Nollywood personalities present included Shan George, Bob Manuel Udokwu, Paul Adams and several others. Of course, there were ace comedians like Gbenga Adeyinka and M.C Abbey.
