TARA DUROTOYE CLINCHES NEW DEAL

Tara Durotoye recently shone at this year’s Fortune/ US State Department Global Women’s Mentoring Partnership. She was selected with Detoun Ogwo, the CEO of AGDC, Ideas Builders Initiative to represent Nigeria at this year’s event. The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy coordinates a mentoring program for emerging women leaders from around the world: FORTUNE/U.S. State Department Global Women’s Mentoring Partnership.” Inaugurated in 2006, this program is now in its fifth year and has placed over 116 women from 39 countries in mentoring programs with some of FORTUNE’s Most Powerful Women. This public-private partnership places talented, emerging women leaders from all over the world in mentoring programs with FORTUNE’s Most Powerful Women Leaders. Detoun Ogwo & Tara Fela-Durotoye are the 2010 Candidates placed at Goldman Sachs/World Bank (Detoun) & ExxonMobil (Tara Fela-Durotoye).
The 4 week experience spanning various cities in the United States was a life changing one for these 2 ladies. They learnt under the leaders of world renowned entrepreneurs who took them through leadership, networking and economic rationale in investing. They were also reinforced with commitment to advocating for impactful solutions to Nigeria’s alarming youth unemployment statistics.
And working together as part of their collaborative “pay forward” project, Tara Fela-Durotoye will be rolling out the Mentoring Walk in Delta State; Detoun Ogwo will be anchoring the Ogun State. Their preparations are also underway to launch programs in job training, entrepreneurship, and economic development amongst others to provide impactful career solutions to unemployed Nigerian youth. They have also outlined series of events to empower and reach out to a lot of women as much as possible. The duo will be kicking off with the “Global Women’s Mentoring Walks” which will include over 5,000 participants across Lagos, Delta, Abuja, Ogun and Akwa Ibom State.
