GOING FOR GOLD: THE £165 FRENCH CONNECTION SEQUIN DRESS CELEBS LOVE TO WEAR

Spread the love

On their website, French Connection proclaim you can make a star entrance in their £165 ‘Golden Samantha Sequin Dress’. So reality stars to soap actresses have done just that, snapping up the short wrap dress with plunging neckline to sparkle on special occasions.
Coronation Street star Brooke Vincent was first spotted in the dress when she celebrated her 19th birthday at footballer Rio Ferdinand’s restaurant Rosso in Manchester last month.
‘The high street seems to be very bright and bold at the moment but I wanted something to feel more birthday and a bit more special,’ Brooke revealed to Now Magazine about her style choice. ‘I love that I can get it out again for when the Christmas parties come around.’
She teamed the dress with gold Kurt Geiger heels and a contrasting purple clutch from Dorothy Perkins.
Days later, Made In Chelsea star Gabriella Ellis, 23, chose to wear the dazzling dress as she rubbed shoulders with Tom Hanks at the London premiere of his film Larry Crowne.
‘I wore it because I wanted to stand out and sparkle down the red carpet. It’s always great to make a big entrance and it’s a great dress for that,’ she told Now.
She paired the dress with After Dark heels and a Louis Vuitton clutch, both in black.
Not to be outdone by her reality TV rival, The Only Way is Essex star Chloe Sims, 24, wore the dress, also with black accessories, a week later as she celebrated co-star Amy Child’s 21st birthday at London’s Zilli Fish restaurant.
Chloe told Now she hadn’t intended to upstage the birthday girl or emulate other stars in her choice of outfit.
‘The dress of the season? I’m glad I’ve got it right for a change!’ she said. ‘Amy and I aren’t in competition with each other, so it didn’t occur to me that I’d outdo her.’
Gold sequins have also become a wardrobe staple for the A-listers with stars choosing to wear designer versions on the red carpet.
While French Connection’s gold dress is flying off the shelves, the store is said to be meeting demand for all things sparkly by bringing out a silver version later in the year.
For those who don’t want to spend as much as £165, Warehouse do a gold one-shoulder sequin dress for £90 while Dorothy Perkins have a gold dress with the sequined bodice for £27.
