RIHANNA’S FATHER, RONALD FENTY STRUCK DOWN BY DEADLY DISEASE
Singer Rihanna’s father has been hospitalized after contracting a deadly tropical virus.
57-year-old Ronald Fenty is now recovering at home after being struck down with dengue fever, a virus which kills thousands of people every year. The disease is transmitted by mosquitoes and ticks and while it is harmless for most people, some need to be treated intravenously for dehydration. Ronald fell ill just days after his superstar daughter came to visit the family in their native Barbados.
The pair were estranged for a time over Ronald’s well-documented crack addiction but have now reconciled.
And when the father of six was rushed to hospital he was treated in a ward where a doctor, who is a friend of Rihanna, insisted he call the 23-year-old singer.
Rihanna was recently on holiday in her hometown of Bridgetown Barbados, where she filmed footage for the music video of her new song Cheers (Drink To That), which is shot in a documentary style.
And despite their fall-out, Ronald is thrilled with the huge success of his daughter.
