VICTORIA’S SECRET SET TO OPEN IN UK
Victoria’s Secret is finally coming to the UK. The US lingerie brand will open a flagship store on New Bond Street in London next year and will eventually launch in shopping malls across the country. The move is part of a global expansion plan.
Victoria’s Secret executive Martyn R Redgrave told WWD: ‘The mall-based stores will be large box, A-mall-type units with full assortments, but they’re in the UK, not the US, and we have to learn.
‘That’s what we’re looking to do as we expand, in the UK in particular’.
Renowned for an annual fashion show and catalogue that features top models, Victoria’s Secret has launched the careers of many a supermodel including Heidi Klum, Miranda Kerr and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.
The brand was started in San Francisco in 1977 by Roy Raymond, who felt embarrassed trying to purchase lingerie for his wife in a department store environment.
There are now around 1,000 stores across North America, Canada and the Middle East.
It is owned by company Limited Brands, which also owns La Senza.
