FIRST NATION AIRWAYS COMMENCES OPERATIONS
Recently acquired airline, First Nation Airways (formerly Bellview Airline) has finally launched its operations. The resuscitated airline started operations on Thursday November 3, 2011, with its first flight plying Lagos/Abuja route. Though the airline was billed to commence full operations in August 2011.
According to the airline’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Akinpelu Awofeso, “The delay in commencement of our operations was because we have been strategizing and planning. We started to plan our schedule before coming out and now we have started. For now, we will be flying Abuja and in December we will increase our route.”
Conceived in 2010, news was all over town that former Lagos State governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu had acquired the former Bellview Airline with $30 million and since then there has been some underground work going on with the recruitment of capable industry personnel and bringing in three new aircraft A320 to complement the fleet on ground.
The airline will still maintain the old office on Opebi Road, Ikeja, Lagos. Former MD/CEO of the company has been elevated to the rank of the company’s chairman.
Former Bellview Airline packed up due to insufficient finances to run the company and now it’s coming back in a new name, First Nation Airways and new management structure.
