BEYONCE TURNS DESIGNER TO SUPPORT OBAMA CAMPAIGN

Spread the love

If you like it then you better put a ring on it, right? For now it seems pop princess Beyoncé has changed her tune-the Crazy in Love singer now says we should show our appreciation not with jewellery, but with a T-shirt.
The former Destiny’s Child star is lending her support to the Obama campaign by designing a crew-neck top for supporters to buy.
The $45 cotton shirt will help to raise crucial funds for the 2012 reelection effort.
Beyonce, who last week became a parent for the first time with husband, rapper Jay-Z, is one of more than 20 designers fashioning garments for well-wishers to buy.
Designers include Russell Simmons, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, Tory Burch, Vera Wang, and Diane von Fursternberg, many of whom helped with the similar 2008 ‘Runway to Change’ project.
This year’s ‘Runway to Win’ project has fierce fashion credentials -it is organized by Vogue editor and long-time Obama supporter Anna Wintour.
The singer’s mom Tina Knowles (who manages the Beyonce’s own House of Dereon line) collaborated in designing the t-shirt, which is embellished with Obama phrases including the ubiquitous ‘Yes we can.’
With 2012 already upon us the Obamas have been looking for some star power to boost their campaign hopes.
A list of almost 200 celebrities the Obamas are counting on for endorsements, including Jessica Alba, Blake Lively, Oprah Winfrey and the Black Eyes Peas was today leaked to the Tennessean newspaper. But it later transpired to be more of a wish list.
The crew neck T-shirt costs $45 and, is available for pre-order now. The garments officially go on sale online February 7.
