@ FASHION FANTASIA; CHARITY FASHION SHOW FOR BREAST & CERVICAL CANCER AWARENESS
It was truly a night of fashion, glamour, inspiration and information as guests trooped in droves to attend Fashion Fantasia! – a benefit Fashion show and fundraising aimed at increasing awareness for breast and cervical cancer. The event which took place at the high class Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Lekki, Lagos was truly a memorable experience for all who attended.
The event which was hosted by delectable Tana Egbo Adelana of the Channel O and Peak Talent Show fame, kicked off with the national anthem being sung by Ruby Gyang, the newest artiste signed on to M.I Abaga’s Loopy records. Her soulful rendition of the National anthem put the guests in the mood for what was to be an immensely enjoyable evening. Following another equally soulful performance by Nokia First Chance Winner, Christine Ben Ameh, the guests enjoyed a fantastic fashion showcase from Suchille Clothings.
The guests were then given a talk on Breast and Cervical Cancer by Dr. Mario Adelaja, Executive Director of Bloom Cancer Care. The session was thoroughly engaging and informative as Dr. Adelaja addressed questions and concerns from members of the audience. The highpoint of the evening was perhaps the inspiring and emotional talk given by breast cancer survivor Funmilayo Shonubi. She shared her experience with the members of the audience and urged them to be vigilant about their health and always go for regular checks.
This session was immediately followed by the celebrity runway segment which had female celebrities like Tana Egbo Adelana of Channel O, Victoria Pepple of STV, Christine Ben Ameh of Nokia First Chance and others all walking the runway as a means of advocating for regular breast and cervical cancer screening.
Speaking on the event, Project visionary, Francesca Uriri said: “The rate at which young people, especially young women are being infected with cancer is very alarming; which is essentially why we’re using fashion as a platform to ensure that people realize just how important it is to get their regular checks done. Early detection of any type of cancer helps increase the rate of survival; and this is one of the key things we hope to re-iterate with this event.”
