BUHARI APPOINTS ZAKARI AS ACTING CHAIRMAN, INEC

Buhari has appointed Mrs. Amina Bala Zakari as the Acting National Chairman of
Nigeria’s electoral body, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),
following Tuesday’s retirement of Professor Attahiru Jega, its former chairman.

Until her
appointment, Zakari was a National Commissioner at INEC.A statement by Haruna Imrana,
Director of Communications for the Head of Civil Service of the Federation,
said her appointment is with effect from June 30, 2015 until the appointment of
a substantive Chairman.

Jega had earlier
