TRIBUTE TO THE OLUBADAN OF IBADAN, OBA SAMUEL ODULANA
It’s no longer news that the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade
1, has passed on.He died at about 7.30pm on Tuesday January 20, 2016 while on
his bed, after first losing consciousness at the age of 101; encircled by his
wife and a few of his children. He would have been 102 years old if he had
lived another 86 days. However, the 40th Olubadan was hale and hearty and did
not show sign of any life-threatening ailment.

Oba Odulana, ascended the throne at age 93 on August 17, 2007.He was the
17th Olubadan since the title was elevated from Baale Ibadan to the Olubadan in
1930. He began his climb to the exalted stool in 1972 when he became the Mogaji
of Ladunni compound in Ibadan. In 1976, he was confirmed the Jagun of Ibadan
land, and then climbed several other chieftaincy ladders before becoming the
Olubadan.
17th Olubadan since the title was elevated from Baale Ibadan to the Olubadan in

The remains of the late monarch have been deposited at the morgue of the
