Read excepts from the interview below…

On her debut album…

“This is my first album ever, and I’m so hyped about it. I needed people to understand the type of artist I am, so I released several singles in several different regions that ended up being hits. So, now the time is right and I believe the people are ready for a body of work from Victoria Kimani. It’s almost been like feeding the people baby food, so much easier to digest, but now that we are acquainted, its time to serve the meat. We’re looking at a third quarter (of the year) release.”

Title, tracks and collaborations…

“…My album is called SAFARI, which is Swahili for a journey or to travel. Musically, ascetically, fashion wise and sound wise, they are all in sync with my life experiences through travel. I found myself on SAFARI. The project literally sums up my life.

“I’d like to have anywhere from 12-15 tracks. The first single is a surprise, so I can’t say [squeals].

“I have features from literally everywhere. To name a few: Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie, South Africa’s very own DJ Maphorisa and Donald, and an amazing international feature which I cannot wait to share with you! I didn’t want to be cliché in my features and work with the same line-up of guys that literally everyone is working with. I love fresh budding talent, so you will literally get to meet new artists on my album as well.”

On her choice of hair colours…

I love colour, especially when it comes to my hair. There’s so many I haven’t done yet, but out of all of them, orange hair was my fave!
