Jihadist group, Islamic State, better known as ISIS, has announced a new leader for the insurgent group, Boko Haram.
The terrorist group said the leadership for its West African branch, Boko Haram, has been adjusted, naming Abu Musab al-Barnawi as the new leader replacing Abubakar Shekau.
Al-Barnawi was previously spokesman for Boko Haram on an announcement made known in the latest issue of their magazine.
Al-Barnawi is also featured in the magazine which makes no reference to Shekau who took over as Boko Haram leader after the group’s founder, Muhammad Yusuf, died in police custody in July 2009.
The magazine did not disclose what has become of Shekau, who is believed to have been killed by attacks from the forces repelling the insurgent group.
