IS YOUR PHONE ON THE HIT-LIST? WHATSAPP TO END SUPPORT FOR MILLIONS OF PHONES
If you’re a regular user of WhatsApp and also happen to be rocking the messaging service on an ageing device, you may want to look away now.
That’s after the Facebook-owned app announced that it will no longer support a range of older operating platforms by the end of the year.
Phones running Windows Phone 7, Android 2.1, Android 2.2, iOS 6 or lower will be affected before the turn of the year, with BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10, Nokia S40 and Nokia Symbian S60 surviving until June 30, 2017.
According to WhatsApp: “While these mobile devices have been an important part of our story, they don’t offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app’s features in the future.”
