President-elect Donald Trump’s nominees for top Cabinet posts are in the spotlight this week as the Senate holds a frenzy of confirmation hearings. In this report, BEBEAKINBOADE.COM presents to you Donald Trump’s new government. 


JEFF SESSIONS, ATTORNEY GENERAL
Jeff Sessions is the junior United States Senator from Alabama. He is a member of the Republican Party. He currently ranks fifteen in seniority in the United States Senate and became the most senior junior Senator upon the retirement of Barbara Boxer in January 2017.
From 1981 to 1993, he served as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Alabama. Sessions was elected Attorney General of Alabama in 1994, and to the U.S. Senate in 1996, being re-elected in 2002, 2008, and 2014. Sessions is considered one of the most conservative members of the U.S. Senate. As a senator, he is noted for his opposition to illegal immigration and advocacy of reducing legal immigration. He supported the major legislative efforts of the George W. Bush administration, including the 2001 and 2003 tax cut packages, the Iraq War, and a proposed national amendment to ban same-sex marriage. He opposed the establishment of the Troubled Asset Relief Program, the 2009 stimulus bill, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, and the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell Repeal Act. As the ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, he opposed all three of President Barack Obama’s nominees for the Supreme Court.

JOHN KELLY, SECRETARY OF HOMELAND SECURITY
John  Kelly is a retired United States Marine Corps general and the former commander of United States Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM), the Unified Combatant Command responsible for American military operations in Central America, South America and the Caribbean. Kelly previously served as the commanding general of the Multi-National Force—West in Iraq from February 2008 to February 2009, and as the commander of Marine Forces Reserve and Marine Forces North in October 2009. Kelly succeeded General Douglas M. Fraser as commander of USSOUTHCOM on November 19, 2012. Kelly was succeeded by Navy Admiral Kurt W. Tidd on January 14, 2016.

REX TILLERSON, SECRETARY OF STATE
Rex  Tillerson is an American businessman. He was the chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of ExxonMobil from 2006 to 2016.
Tillerson began his career as an engineer and holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Tillerson joined Exxon in 1975, and by 1989 had become general manager of the Exxon USA central production division. In 1995 he became president of Exxon Yemen Inc. and Esso Exploration and Production Khorat Inc. In 2006, Tillerson was elected chairman and chief executive officer of Exxon, the world’s 6th largest company by revenue. Tillerson retired from Exxon effective December 31, 2016, and was succeeded by Darren Woods. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering.

MIKE POMPEO, CIA
Mike Pompeo is an American politician who has been the U.S. Representative for Kansas’s 4th congressional district since 2011. He is a member of the Tea Party movement within the Republican Party. He was a Kansas representative on the Republican National Committee. 

BETSY DEVOS, EDUCATION SECRETARY
Betsy” DeVos is an American businesswoman, philanthropist, and education activist from Michigan. DeVos is a prominent member of the Republican Party known for her advocacy of school choice, voucher programs, and ties to the Reformed Christian community. She was Republican National Committeewoman for Michigan from 1992 to 1997 and served as chairwoman of the Michigan Republican Party from 1996 to 2000, with reelection to the post in 2003. DeVos was one of the architects of the Detroit charter school system and she is a member of the board of the Foundation for Excellence in Education. She has served as chairwoman of the board of Alliance for School Choice and heads the All Children Matter PAC. DeVos is married to Dick DeVos and is the daughter-in-law of billionaire Richard DeVos, the co-founder of Amway. DeVos is the daughter of Edgar Prince, founder of the Prince Corporation.

ELAINE CHAO, TRANSPORTATION SECRETARY
Elaine  Chao is an American politician. Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Republic of China, Chao was the first Asian American woman and the first Taiwanese American in U.S. history to be appointed to a U.S. President’s Cabinet. She served as the 24th United States Secretary of Labor under President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2009, and Deputy Secretary of Transportation under President George H. W. Bush. Chao is married to Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, who has been the Senate Majority Leader since 3 January 2015.

JAMES MATTIS, DEFENSE SECRETARY
James Mattis  is a retired United States Marine Corps general who last served as the 11th Commander of United States Central Command, the Unified Combatant Command responsible for American military operations in the Middle East, Northeast Africa, and Central Asia, from August 11, 2010, to March 22, 2013.
Before President Obama appointed Mattis to replace General Petraeus on August 11, 2010, he previously commanded United States Joint Forces Command from November 9, 2007, to August 2010 and served concurrently as NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Transformation from November 9, 2007, to September 8, 2009. Prior to that, he commanded I Marine Expeditionary Force, United States Marine Forces Central Command, and 1st Marine Division during the Iraq War.

BEN CARSON, HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT SECRETARY
Ben” Carson, Sr. is an American retired surgeon, author, and politician. Born in Detroit, Michigan, and a graduate of Yale University and the University of Michigan Medical School, Carson has authored numerous books on his medical career and political stances. He was the subject of a television drama film in 2009.
He was the Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Maryland from 1984 until his retirement in 2013. As a pioneer in neurosurgery, Carson’s achievements include performing the only successful separation of conjoined twins joined at the back of the head, pioneering the first successful neurosurgical procedure on a fetus inside the womb, performing the first completely successful separation of type-2 vertical craniopagus twins, developing new methods to treat brain-stem tumors, and reviving hemispherectomy techniques for controlling seizures.He became the youngest chief of pediatric neurosurgery in the country at age 33.He has received more than 60 honorary doctorate degrees, dozens of national merit citations, and written over 100 neurosurgical publications. In 2008, he was bestowed the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award in the United States.

Carson’s widely publicized speech at the 2013 National Prayer Breakfast catapulted him to conservative fame for his views on social and political issues.
On May 4, 2015, he announced he was running for the Republican nomination in the 2016 presidential election at a rally in his hometown of Detroit.In March 2016, following the Super Tuesday primaries, he suspended his campaign and announced he would be the new national chairman of My Faith Votes, a group that encourages Christians to exercise their civic duty to vote. He then endorsed the candidacy of Donald Trump. 

WILBUR ROSS, COMMERCE SECRETARY
Wilbur Ross, Jr. is an American investor, and former banker, known for restructuring failed companies in industries such as steel, coal, telecommunications, foreign investment and textiles. He specializes in leveraged buyouts and distressed businesses. As of August 2014, Forbes magazine lists Ross as one of the world’s billionaires with a net worth of $2.9 billion.
