SENATE CONFIRMS ABIKE DABIRI-EREWA’S APPOINTMENT AS DIASPORA COMMISSION CHAIRPERSON
The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa as the Chairman of the Nigerian Diaspora Commission (NDC). Her confirmation was announced after Rose Oko, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on diaspora and non-governmental organisations (NGOs), presented the report of the committee. The Senate later announced her confirmation via its verified Twitter account @NGRSenate.
“The Senate has confirmed the Nomination of Abike Dabiri-Erewa for Appointment as Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Diaspora Commision,” it tweeted.
In his remarks, Bukola Saraki, senate president, described Dabiri-Erewa’s nomination as one that was fully merited. He also commended the committee for its effort in ensuring that the process of the confirmation was concluded on time.
“On behalf of the Eighth Senate, let me congratulate Honourable Abike Dabiri-Erewa on this appointment, which is well deserved,” Saraki said.
“We wish her a successful tenure and hope she will be a great Ambassador for the country.”
Dabiri-Erewa, Senior Special Adviser to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, was a three-term member of the House of Representatives representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in Lagos between 2003 and 2015.
