Couple of years back, ace producer and boss of the defunct
Mohits Records, Michael Ajereh Collins, famously known as Don Jazzy and his
long time partner, Dapo Oyebanjo, otherwise known as D’banj didn’t see their
break-up coming until recently and today, it has become a reality. The end of
an old era(Mo’ Hits) that rocked Nigerian entertainment industry and beyond for
almost a decade has given birth to the beginning of a new era, The Mavin
Records label.
One thing conspicuosly missing in the newly floated record label, which was
formally unveiled to the world by the respected producer, Don Jazzy on Monday,
May 7, 2012, via social media; was D’banj.
Luckily enough for the new records label, Don Jazzy got a better replacement
that makes a formidable team female singer, songwriter and diva, Tiwa Savage
and from what muzic disciples across the global saw in the Solar Plexus,
Mavin’s debut mixtape, it was indeed an amazing combination of talents who have
carved a niche for themselves in the industry, including Wande Coal, Dr Sid and
D’ Prince.

TIWA SAVAGE
Gifted female singer, Tiwa Savage is the first female artiste to be signed by
Don Jazzy and that has actually qualified her as the Mavin Records’ First lady.
The talented  Singer/Songwriter  graduated from the renowned Berklee
College of Music in 2007 and has since then been working with music producers
in the Industry. Tiwa began her music in the UK
touring as a background singer for artists such as Mary J Blige, STING, George Michael,
Kelly Clarkson and  Spice Girls. She participated in the X-Factor – the
British competition that spawned American Idol and made it to the top 24. She
has worked with A – list artists such as Fantasia, AKON, Snoop Dogg and
Babyface and shared the stage with the likes of Beyonce, Black eyed Peas and 50
Cents. She is world class artist currently working on her debut album and ready
to take the Nigerian Music Industry to the next level.

D’PRINCE
Charles Enebeli popularly known as D’Prince is the younger brother of Marvin
Records boss, Don Jazzy.
The Omo oba crooner was introduced to music at a very early age.
D’ Prince attended King’s College in Lagos
before choosing to focus on a career in music. When his elder brother returned
to Nigeria to
promote the Mo’Hits label, D’Prince was asked to become one of the inaugural
acts.
He announced himself to the world in 2007 when he featured in the hit singles
“Close to You,” “Booty Call,” and “Igbe Mi.” Two years later his debut single,
“Omoba” was released to critical and commercial acclaim. He proved the initial
success was no fluke by going on to record five successive hits. ‘Jonzing
world,” “I like What I see,” “Ooze,” and “Give It To Me” all went on to
replicate the popularity of his debut.
D’Prince has proved a real hit especially with his female fans who have flocked
to see him at dozens of concerts. His talent has been quickly recognized after
he garnered a SoundCIty video award.
His singles on the Solar Plexus album, “Take Banana,” “Why you over there,” and
“Amarachi” have already set ears ablaze and are set to be on constant repeat
for a long time.

WANDE COAL
Oluwatobi Wande Ojosipe popularly known as Wande Coal is a graduate of the University
of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos.
Wande like most great musicians started singing in the teenage choir at his
church. He got his break in the Nigerian entertainment industry as a dancer. He
continued improving on his vocals skills and got signed to Don Jazzy’s Mo’hits
records in 2006. He feautured on D’banj’s Rundown/Funk you up album on singles
like; Loke, tonosibe and why me. Being signed to Mo’ Hits records he is also a
member of the Mo’ Hits allstars and played a major role in the released
CV(Curriculum vitae) album. His first single of the cv album ‘ololufe’ has been
described as one of the greatest love song ever written by a Nigerian.
Wande Coal has also recorded tracks with other Nigerian artist including
Ikechukwu, Naeto C, Dr SID, D’Prince, Wizkid and many more. And following the
fallout between record label Executives Don Jazzy and D’banj, Wande Coal, Dr
SID, D’Prince and Tiwa Savage signed on to Don Jazzy’s new Record Label Mavin
Records.

DR. SID
Sidney Onoriode Esiri fondly called  Dr SID is a  singer, songwriter
and a Dentist. His mother is a successful fashion designer and his father the
legendary actor Justus Esiri, famous for his role as the Village Headmaster a
Nigerian sitcom popular in the 1980s. The second child of 4 children from an
early age he had his heart set on becoming an entertainer. However his life
took a different course graduating from the Nigerian Air force Secondary school
, Ikeja, SID went on to the University of Ibadan (UI) to study Dental Surgery,
During his school years his flair for entertainment could not be hidden as he
took part in school plays, dance competitions and concerts winning numerous
awards along the way.
Dr SID got his chance in front of the mic, when he was made a member of Da
Trybe, and given a spot on the song that caused a revolution in Nigerian
Hip-hop, “OYA” in 2002 alongside Sasha, 2-Shotz, Timi,
DEL, and the Trybesmen (Eldee, Kb and
Freestyle). Over the next year SID recorded his Debut Single “Don’t
Stop” and had the number 1 video on the MBI top ten for 8 weeks, His music
career had to be put on hold as he had to take a year out to finish up his
university degree.
Dr SID became a qualified Dentist. He moved to the UK
working with the likes of JJC & the 419 squad, Felix Duke, KAS, R70 and
D’Banj. Returning to Nigeria
he spent the Next year working at Lagos University Teaching Hospital,and then
went on to serve his country at Yola in Adamawa state. Fulfilling his
educational and National obligations, he returned to his first love music.
In 2007, Dr SID signs on to Don Jazzy”s Mo’ Hits Records and records the
Mo’ Hits Allstars collective album “Curriculum Vitae” (CV) which was
released in December 2007. He featured on 7 of the 15 tracks released on the
album, which include Booty Call, Close to you.
Dr SID spent most of 2008 touring with the Mo Hits Allstars, and performing at
some of the major concerts, including the Thisday Music Festival and Star Mega Jam.
Following a fall out of the partners at Mo’ Hits Records, D’banj and Don Jazzy,
Dr SID has since signed on to Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records. He also had three
songs from his upcoming album featured on a Mavin Records compilation album
titled: Solar Plexus.
