ADELE UNDERGOES SURGERY ON HER VOCAL CORDS

Adele has undergone surgery on her vocal cords in the U.S.The singer’s doctor, who performed the same surgery on Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, has said he expects her to undergo a full recovery. Adele, 23, was forced to cancel tour dates and promotional appearances for the rest of the year because of her illness.
A spokesman at the Massachusetts General Hospital said she underwent vocal chord microsurgery to stop recurrent bleeding from a benign polyp.
The condition is usually the result of unstable blood vessels in the vocal cord that can rupture.
The hospital added that the Grammy winner went to Boston to undergo the surgery with Dr Steven Zeitels, director of the hospital’s Voice Centre.
He has also treated Julie Andrews, Cher and Roger Daltrey of The Who.
The hospital said in a statement: ‘Based on the advice of her doctor and voice therapist in the United Kingdom, Adele came to Boston to consult and undergo corrective voice surgery with Dr. Zeitels.
‘Dr. Zeitels… has pioneered many vocal cord surgical procedures including the use of specialised lasers to stop vocal cord bleeding in singers.
‘He has performed this unique procedure for many vocalists including Steven Tyler, allowing him to return to full performance.’
The hospital said Dr Zeitels expects Adele to make a full recovery from the laser microsurgery.
