HOW FOLORUNSHO ALAKIJA CELEBRATED HER 60TH BIRTHDAY

The most anticipated and much talked about 3-in-1 celebration, which had 60th birthday of fashion icon, Mrs Folorunsho Alakija, have come and gone, but the memory lingers on.
The programme marking the 60th birthday of Mrs Alakija kicked off on Monday July 11, 2011 with an empowerment programme. The programme held at the Yusuf Grillo Hall, Yaba College of Education, was part of the celebrant’s form of reaching out to the widows and orphans. On that day, her foundation, Rose of Sharon Foundation (RSOF) empowered 134 widows and gave scholarship to 17 orphans.
Also as a way of appreciating God for a successful 35 years of marital bliss, Mrs Folorunsho authored a book, entitled, UNIVERSITY OF MARRIAGE: YOUR TEXT BOOK FOR SUCCESSFUL MARRIAGE. The new book which was unveiled on Wednesdy, July 13, 2011 at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos was an expose on successful marriage.
The grand finale of the 3-in-1 celebration took place on Saturday, July 16, 2011 and it all began at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, Lagos with a thanksgiving service.the fun and excitement later moved from the church to the Expo Hall of Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. The reception was the climaxed of all events that marked the end of the great occasion.
For those who are familiar with the Alakijas events in the past were not surprised with the beautification and transformation of the Expo Hall and the amount of money spent to stage this gigantic event.
Policians. Celebs, Style Icons were all in action at the red carpet during the party. On the roll call were the first ladies of Lagos and Ogun State, Mrs Abimbola Fashola and Mrs Olufunsho Amosun; former and present deputy governors of Lagos state, Princess Sarah Sosan and Mrs Orelope Adefulure, Honourable Abike Dabiri, Chief(Mrs) Abba Folawiyo, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, Dr Doyin Abiola, Bola Shagaya, Dr Ernest Shonekan & Wife, Dr Alex Ekwueme & Wife, Otunba Subomi Balogun, Prof. Ibidabo Obe, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, Patrick Doyle, Dr Islar Animashaun, Pastor Ituah Ighodalo, Zizi Cardow, Nikky Khirran, Folake Majin, Funmi Ajila- Ladipo,amongst others
