REAL REASON FLAVOUR NABANIA FELL APART WITH HIS RECORD LABEL

Spread the love

Two weeks ago, Flavour Nabania who came into limelight through his hit track, Ashawo posted on his Twitter page that, “I have officially terminated my contract with Badbeat Records. First, I want to advice upcoming artistes to be careful before signing any record deal. Promises Badbeat gave to me were not fulfilled. After building my career to a certain level, I expected any partnership with a record label to take me to a certain level, but didn’t happen.
Badbeat Records don’t have any foundation, no office, no studio, and no nothing. All they have is a bank account where they put money”
Following the recent fall out between Flavour and his Bad Beats record label, the label has ejected the crooner from the posh 7 bedroom duplex they rented in his name somewhere in Magodo, Lagos. Flavour has since moved to a temporary place in Festac.
We gathered that Flavour and Badbeats Record signed a 3-year album deal on January 12, 2011 and the label claimed to have spent close to N10 million on him. They claimed to have bought him a posh car, fully furnished apartment and paid for 2 very expensive videos and lot of other goodies.
According to Flavour’s manager, he debunked the story. According to him, the contract was terminated with Badbeat Records because they did not keep to their promises. They did not give Flavour house or car. And he had a duplex he is living in Festac even before he entered into agreement with the record label. Flavour also have a Toyota Avalon 2009 model which he bought with his own money. They left the house they talked about in Magodo because it was part of the contract and since the contract was terminated, they had to move out. Flavour never signed a contract with Badbeat Records, it was just an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) that he signed and it was supposed to commence before his new album, but he didn’t release any with them. He released his first album, Nabania on 2Nite Entertainment in 2008 and Uplifted in 2010. And he stressed the fact that Badbeat paid the press to write stories about Flavour and they have been one sided about it.
But in a swift reaction, spokesperson for the label, Mr Anderson Obiagwu said, “We are not done with Flavour. This is just the beginning of the legal battle. We are in civil society and have laws governing every facet. When people disregard contracts, the legal system is there to restore justice and we are prepared to seek redress in the court of law”
